Revoke LightInventory's Google access

Remove LightInventory's access from your Google Account, and learn what happens to the app, your team and your spreadsheet afterward.

Last updated October 28, 2026

You can remove LightInventory's access to your Google Account at any time from your Google Account's linked apps page. Your spreadsheet and everything in it stay in your Google Drive; LightInventory simply can no longer open it.

Who needs to do this

Only the person who connected the spreadsheet has granted LightInventory access to it, so only that person's Google Account needs to remove it. LightInventory has access only to files that were created with it or picked for it, never to the rest of your Drive. Other team members never granted Drive access, so they have nothing to remove.

Remove access

These steps follow Google's help page Manage connections between your Google Account and third parties. Google may change the wording over time.

  1. Go to your Google Account's linked apps page at myaccount.google.com/linkedapps.
  2. Select Access to your Google Account, then select LightInventory.
  3. Select See details and review the access listed.
  4. Select Remove access, then select Confirm.

Google states that once you remove access, "the app can't access your Google Account."

What happens afterward

Your data stays in your Sheet. Removing access does not change or delete any file. Your inventory spreadsheet, its history tab and any backup or archive copies remain in your Google Drive, and you can keep using them in Google Sheets.

The app stops working with that spreadsheet. The next time LightInventory tries to reach the file, Google refuses. The organization switches to a read-only state that says a reconnect is needed, and the owner gets an email. Nobody can record changes through the app until the spreadsheet is connected again.

The stored token stops working. The encrypted Google token LightInventory held for the file can no longer be used. The rest of your account, team and history chain stay in place, so you can reconnect later without starting over.

Edits you make in the meantime are caught. If you edit the spreadsheet in Google Sheets while it is disconnected and then reconnect, LightInventory compares each row with what it last wrote and treats the differences as edits made outside the app, under your organization's policy.

Reconnect or leave

  • To reconnect, the owner of the spreadsheet signs in to LightInventory and connects the same file again. A fresh second factor is required.
  • To leave for good, also delete your LightInventory account or organization so that the remaining system data is erased. See Delete your LightInventory data.
