Deleting your organization erases the system data LightInventory holds about it after a 30-day grace period. Your Google spreadsheets are never touched: they stay in your Google Drive, and only you can delete them.

## Delete an organization

Only the Owner can delete an organization, and it requires a fresh second factor. The app's step-by-step instructions are added here at launch. Until then, or if you cannot sign in:

1. Email support@lightinventory.com from the email address of the organization's Owner.
2. Name the organization you want deleted.
3. Confirm the request when we reply.

When the deletion starts, the organization is marked for deletion for 30 days. After 30 days, every record that belongs to the organization is permanently deleted.

## Delete your own account

To delete your personal LightInventory account, email support@lightinventory.com from the address you sign in with. If you are the Owner of an organization, transfer ownership to another member or delete the organization first, because every organization must have exactly one Owner.

When an Owner or Admin removes you from an organization, all of your sessions end right away. Your entries in that organization's history stay in its spreadsheet, because the history belongs to the organization.

## What is erased

| Data | When it is erased |
|---|---|
| The organization, memberships, roles, invitations and settings | 30 days after deletion starts |
| The encrypted Google token and spreadsheet metadata | 30 days after deletion starts |
| Row fingerprints and the organization's audit chain records | 30 days after deletion starts |
| Approval request status and integrity status | 30 days after deletion starts |
| Your name, email and sign-in methods, after your account is deleted | Within 30 days |

Our database is backed up daily, and each backup is kept for 7 days. Deleted records can remain in those backups until they expire.

## What is kept

| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Daily history anchors | Each is a single fingerprint across all organizations, written to storage that cannot be altered. It contains no values and no names | 7 years |
| Security events (sign-ins, permission failures) | Detecting and investigating abuse | IP address for 90 days; the event for 1 year |
| Billing references and invoices | Accounting and tax law | As long as the law requires |
| Application logs, with values removed | Fixing problems | 30 days |

## Your spreadsheet

LightInventory never deletes your spreadsheets, their history tabs, or the backup and archive copies it created in your Drive. They are yours. You can keep using them in Google Sheets, or delete them yourself in Google Drive.

To be sure LightInventory can no longer open the file, also remove its access from your Google Account. See [Revoke LightInventory's Google access](/help/data-and-privacy/revoke-google-access).
