# Lost a sign-in method

> What to do if you lose a phone, a security key or your recovery codes, and what happens if you lose every sign-in method and every code.

If you lose one sign-in method, sign in with another and replace the lost one. If you lose every method and every recovery code, there is no way to recover the account in this version of LightInventory. You can ask support to delete it.

> **Note:** LightInventory is in development and not yet generally available. This page describes sign-in as designed. Step-by-step screenshots are added as each screen ships.

## You lost one method

Every account has at least two sign-in methods, so you can still sign in.

1. Sign in, then select **Use another method** and choose a method you still have.
2. Open **Security** from the **Account** menu.
3. Add a new [passkey](/help/account-and-sign-in/passkeys) or [authenticator app](/help/account-and-sign-in/authenticator-app).
4. Remove the lost method.
5. If the lost device could still be signed in, sign it out on the [Sessions](/help/account-and-sign-in/sessions) page.

## You lost your passkeys and your authenticator app

Use one of your saved [recovery codes](/help/account-and-sign-in/recovery-codes) to sign in. For the next 24 hours, sensitive actions such as changing sign-in methods are paused. Once that time has passed, add new sign-in methods.

## You lost every method and every code

LightInventory has no account recovery in this version. Our staff cannot sign in as you, reset your second factor or turn it off. This keeps someone who knows your password or controls your email from taking over your account.

What you can do:

- **Ask for deletion.** Email support@lightinventory.com from the address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. See [Delete your LightInventory data](/help/data-and-privacy/delete-your-data) for what is erased and when.
- **Your spreadsheets stay yours.** They live in your Google Drive, and losing your LightInventory sign-in does not change them. You can keep using them in Google Sheets.

## Avoid getting locked out

- Keep two passkeys, for example one synced through your password manager and one on a hardware security key.
- Store your recovery codes away from the devices that hold your passkeys.
- Create a new set of recovery codes whenever you are unsure where the old ones are.
